Viewing will be 4 - 8 PM Tuesday, September 2 at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary 6934 S. Western Avenue. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 3 at First Baptist Church Kellyville. Interment will follow at the Kellyville City Cemetery.

Carmeleta Annabel Binns Smith, 87, known to her friends and family as Moe, passed away in Oklahoma City on Friday, August 29, 2014 after a short illness. Moe was born April 13, 1927 in Sapulpa, OK to James Oscar Binns, Sr. and Alma Coleman Binns. She graduated from Kellyville High School and received her Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma A&M in May of 1951. That same year in September she married Keith Lee Smith of Oklahoma City and they later had their two sons Mark and Kevin. She received her Masters of Teaching from Central State College in 1968 and began her life long career as an educator. She began teaching in Kellyville Public Schools, then moved to Oklahoma City Public schools where she taught at Prairie Queen, Jefferson Middle School, Green Pastures, Fillmore Elementary, Willowbrook Elementary and Pierce Elementary. She later taught in Bristow at Edison Elementary before her retirement. After retirement she continued her dedication to educating students through substitute teaching in Oklahoma City. Moe enjoyed reading, watching her favorite television programs and crossword puzzles. Above all, she enjoyed the company of her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She is preceded in death by:

• her parents James Oscar, Sr., and Alma Coleman Binns;

• two brothers Charles Lee (Chuck) Binns and James Oscar (J.O.) Binns, Jr.;

• one sister Alma Jean “Jeannie” Binns Lewis;

• and one niece Cathy Binns Fox.

She is survived by:

• her son and daughter-in-law Mark and Gayle Smith of Oklahoma City;

• son Kevin Smith of Tulsa;

• granddaughter Dr. Sara Smith of Mountain Home, AR;

• and granddaughter Elizabeth Smith of Oklahoma City.

• her sister and brother-in-law Reba and Jack Nitz of Tulsa;

• sister Margaret “Peggy” Blue of Joplin, MO;

• sister and brother-in-law Judy and Bill McAnulty of Kellyville.

“Mom”, “Gran Gran” , “Aunt Moe” was loved and will be greatly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
