Florence Barton, a longtime Oilton resident, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007 at her home in Oilton at age 87.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday in the Free Will Baptist Church in Silver City with burial to follow in the Highland Cemetery in Oilton.

Services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Oilton. The daughter of the late Joseph Ownbey and Eva (Evans) Ownbey, Florence was born April 18, 1920 near Olive.

She was united in marriage to Robert Barton on May 16, 1940 in Oilton and to this union two children, Allen and Doris, were born.

Florence was a longtime member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Silver City where she had taught Sunday school. She loved being active in the church and serving the Lord. She had worked for the Post Office in Oilton for several years and in her spare time she enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Florence is survived by: her husband, Robert, of the home; one daughter, Doris Ferguson, and her husband, Bill, of Independence, Kan.; one son, Allen Barton and his wife, Mary, of Drumright; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by six brothers.
