There will be a private family graveside sevice for Joe Franklin Morriss, 85 year-old former Enid resident on Thursday, June 28, 2018 in Green Hill Memorial Garden in Sapulpa, OK. Rev. Terry Tatum will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Joe was born June 10, 1933 in Cornish, Oklahoma to O.B. D. and Bessie (Head) Morriss and died Sunday, June 24, 2018 in Muskogee with his family at his side. Joe graduated from Ringling High School with the class of 1951. He the attended and graduated from O.U. He entered the army serving during the Korean Conflict.

On June 5, 1959 he married Carolyn Binion and the couple made their home in Norman before moving to Enid. Joe was a trust officer with First National Bank of Enid, later trust officer at Citizens Bank of Muskogee, and retired as a trust officer for First Bank and Trust of Cleveland, Texas.

He was a former president of the Enid Lion's Club, a member of the Shriners, Treasurer of Boy Scouts of America Great Salt Plains Chapter, and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award from BSA.

He enjoyed playing golf, watching  his O.U. Sooners, but mostly spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by three children; Sue Shamblin and husband Donny of Muskogee, OK., Rob and Sandra Morriss of Stillwater, OK., and Jayne Morriss of Muskogee. Grandchildren, Grahm Moriss, Jake Harris, Parker Morriss, Conner Shamblin, Krista Brandenburg,.Kristara  White and their spouses. Two great-grandsons Kyler and Paxton as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded by his parents, his wife Carolyn, three brothers, George, Clarence, and Lewis, and one infant brother.

Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
