Doris "Nell" Wanell Miller James

james-d-w

April 23, 1934 - May 18, 2026

Doris "Nell" Wanell James was born April 23, 1934, in Danville, Arkansas, to Alfred Andrew and Esther Mae Miller. She departed this life on May 18, 2026, at the age of 92.

Nell graduated from Danville High School and later began a beautiful relationship with the love of her life, Orville Vance James, in 1975. Together, they made their home in Bristow, Oklahoma, where they lovingly raised their daughter, Deanna. Orville preceded her in death on December 23, 2005.

Nell lived a life marked by generosity, devotion, and quiet strength. She enjoyed gardening, creating flower arrangements, cooking for her family, and the occasional trip to the casino. She had a gift for making things beautiful, whether it was a bouquet, a home-cooked meal, or the way she cared for the people she loved. Selfless by nature, Nell always put others before herself, offering comfort, support, and steady love to anyone who needed it.

She is survived by her daughter, Deanna Adame; her grandson, Kyle James Adame; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who cherished her deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville; two brothers, Clay and Clyde Miller; and four sisters, Connie Bush, Berniece Kitchens, Joyce Kitchens, and Janell Barnett.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00AM, Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Bristow City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home.
