Billy Eugene Fechner

Billy Eugene Fechner
January 11, 1933 ~ September 9, 2019

Bill Eugene Fechner passed from this life on Monday, September 9, 2019 at 86 years, 8 months, and 9 days at his residence in Bristow, Oklahoma.

Bill was born on January 11, 1933 in Oakley, Kansas, to Charles Vernon Fechner and Thelma Walker Fechner. After receiving his education in Oakley, Bill was drafted into the Navy in 1950. He was given an honorable discharge because of his medical condition of loss of hearing.

He married Donna Jean Zimmerman. Because of Bill's pipeline jobs, the family lived in various locations. To this union were born three children: Debbie, Billy, and Kent enjoying many years together before her passing in December, 1996.

Bill loved raising horses for local citizens to use in rodeos. He also enjoyed catching up on important information for his horses by continually reading “The Western Horseman”. His love of horses led him to become quite involved in the Bristow Round-up Club. Attending Billy and Kent's sports events and Debbie's band events also kept him very busy during their growing up days.

Bill soon found love again when he married Rayma Lea Higgins on March 19, 1998. They soon discovered that they both loved to fish and had many enjoyable moments together trying to catch the next big fish. Bill also shared many happy moments with his kids and grandchildren with the purchase of a pool table. The garage became the center of attention with many fun times.

Bill was a member of the Oak Street Church of God and served as a board member and usher for several years.

Bill survived by his wife Rayma, two sisters Darlene and Joellen, one daughter Debbie Cromwell and husband Robin of Mitchell, Indiana, son Billy and wife Janet of Bristow, daughter-in-law Vicki Fechner, one stepdaughter Lorrie Roberts and husband Bobby of Bristow, two stepsons, Gary McNew and wife Julie of Atlanta, Georgia, Steve McNew and wife Melody of Bristow, as well as 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 5 great great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Thelma Fechner, wife Donna Jean, two sisters Joyce and Janice, one brother, Donnie, one son, Kent, one grandson Bobby, and one granddaughter, Faith.

Funeral services are 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Oak Street Church of God in Bristow with Pastor Billy Fechner officiating. Interment will follow at Bristow City Cemetery.
