April 5, 1937 - November 1, 2013
Woodward, Okla. — Gloria A. Atkinson, age 76, of Joplin, passed away on Friday November 1, 2013, at National Healthcare, following an illness.
Gloria was born on April 5, 1937 in Diamond, Mo., the daughter of the late Fredrick and Dorothy (Brown) Atkinson. She worked many years for Western State Hospital in Ft. Supply, Ok., as a Mental Health Technician. She retired in 2006 from Eastern State Hospital in Vinita, Ok. She enjoyed arts and crafts.
She is survived by two sons, Allen McCoy, Joplin, and Scott McCoy and wife Judy , Joplin; three brothers, Bill Atkinson and wife Vickie, Franklin, Tn., Jack Atkinson and wife Ardyth, Oronogo, Mo., and Larry Atkinson, San Diego, Ca.; and four grandchildren, David McCoy, Jennifer, McCoy, Brandon McCoy, and Matt McCoy. She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Atkinson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Jill Michael will officiate. Burial will be in Diamond Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
