Charley David Smith, 89-year-old Ketchum area resident, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the Journey Home in Bartlesville. He was born on June 22, 1936, in Ketchum to William Albert Smith and Myrtle Lee (Wattam) Smith. Charley was a 1956 graduate of Ketchum High School. He worked on Grand Lake for property owners as a caretaker of their homes and cabins for many years. Charley served his country in the United States Army from July of 1958 to July of 1960. He attended the Cleora Baptist Church. Charley loved to go into the town of Ketchum and visit with his many friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two sons, Charles Rodney Smith, and Timothy Ray Smith: siblings, Margaret Ann Smith, Kenneth Eldon Smith, and Ruth Irene Prine.
The family includes his children, Vanessa Dodson and husband Jimmy of Spavinaw, Donald Smith of Jefferson City, Missouri; step children, Tom Wickliff, Janet Glass, Sandra Wickliff; siblings, William Albert Smith of Ketchum, Glenda May Gray of Ketchum; numerous other relatives and friends as well.
The celebration of life will be on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cleora Baptist Church, Pastor Scott Dickerson will officiate. Interment will be on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ketchum Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.highsmithfh.com or on the funeral home Facebook page.
