James W. Tyner, 95 year-old Chouteau resident, died Sunday, June 17, 2007 at the Meadowbrook Nursing Center in Chouteau. He was born September 13, 1911 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to James A. and Grace B. (Young) Tyner. James married Maxine Helen Paquette on June 1, 1946 in Gallup, New Mexico, she preceded him in death on January 12, 2002. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy. James worked in construction, he also ran a couple of small businesses in Chouteau in the past. James was a member of the First United +Methodist Church in Chouteau.

The family includes: his children, Gracie Petty of Niceville, FL, Mary Baker and husband Dan of Chouteau, Taj Tyner of Chouteau, OK, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, a sister Alice Timmons of Norman, a brother Fred Tyner of Pawhuska, several nieces and nephews, and the staff at the Meadowbrook Nursing Center who have been a big part of his family for the past five years.

Others preceding him in death were his parents, one daughter, Ruthie Tyner, and a grandson Billy Oliver.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel in Vinita. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. Online condolences may be made at honoringmemories.com.
