Pete L. Schofield, 85-year-old Bluejacket resident, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa. He was born on August 11, 1939, in McAlester, Oklahoma to Pete Arthur Schofield and Alma Pauline (Baker) Schofield.
Pete attended school in McAlester, then proudly served his country from 1957-1965 in the United States Army and was ranked as a 2nd Lieutenant.
He continued his education at Eastern College where he received his associates, then on to NSU Tahlequah, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He taught school in Southwest Colorado, South Dakota, Missouri, and Kansas, before teaching his last 21 years in Bluejacket. Pete and Constance Ann (Shapland) Schofield were married on December 7, 1961, (20th anniversary of Pearl Harbor) in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Pete was a highly active member of the Dale Peace Post #40 of the American Legion; he had served several years as the Commander and other offices at the Post. Pete loved to tell a good joke, enhance a good story every time he got to tell it. He loved to travel, take pictures, go fishing, rockhounding, fishing, hunting, and play a good golf game. He and Connie also like to travel to old cemeteries and repair monuments.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family includes his wife Connie of the home, a son, Stacie Schofield of Broken Arrow, and one brother, Arthur Laverl Schofield of Edmond.
The family will have a gathering of friends and family on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel, from 2-4 p.m.
Arrangements are by the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Services of Vinita. “Vinita’s only locally owned and operated funeral home.”
