Dorothy Mable (Head) Speir Colyer

April 26, 1918 - Nov. 16, 2002

WALTERS - Dorothy Speir Colyer, 84, of Marlow died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, in Duncan.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel in Walters with the Rev. Charles Ryser officiating. Burial will be in Walters Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Dorothy Mable Speir Colyer was born April 26, 1918, in Durant to John Stephen and Laura Otha Gallaway Head.
Mrs. Colyer grew up mostly in the Temple area, graduating from Temple High School in 1937. She married Archie Milton Speir on May 25, 1939. To this union two daughters were born and a son was adopted. The family moved around with Mr. Speir's job in the oil industry, eventually making their home in Artesia, N.M., for several years. He preceded her in death in June of 1970 while in New Mexico.
She returned to Temple in 1981 and married Louis Colyer in January of 1983, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1995.
Mrs. Colyer enjoyed singing, reading, working with ceramics, sewing and writing poetry. She was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church in Duncan.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette Perry of Katy, Texas, and Nancy Stearns of Marlow; a son, Brian Lee Speir of San Pablo, Calif.; a sister, Edith Norman of Walters; a sister-in-law, LaMonte Dolman of Walters; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Johnnie Head; and her 5-year-old sister, Ruth.
