Lynn Arthur Studebaker

Funeral service for Lynn Arthur Studebaker, 82 of Lawton, will be 2:30 PM at Whinery-Huddleston Chapel with Chaplain Mike Shklar, Lawton/Fort Sill Veterans Center officiating. Lynn went to be with his heavenly father Sunday, August 31, 2014 after a lengthy illness.

Lynn was born on Saturday, October 10, 1931 to Dewey Rodkey and Norma Best Studebaker. Lynn attended many schools while his father served as an Army officer. He graduated from Lawton High School in 1949. He played football, tennis and participated in gymnastics. He attended the University of Tennessee, University of Portland and Cameron University, majoring in finance and accounting. He also graduated from the Banking Institute of America. He attended Oklahoma University and Oklahoma State University for advanced banking.

Lynn married his high school sweetheart, Billie Ruth Cathcart on April 8, 1951 at Beal Heights Presbyterian Church in Lawton. They had four children.

Lynn had a love of flying and became a pilot in 1949. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired in 1969 and returned to Lawton.

Lynn enjoyed raising and showing Champion Doberman Pinchers along with his wife and son, Ron. He was an expert rifleman, winning numerous trophies. He was selected as the Outstanding Young Man of the Year in Oregon. He served many years as a Cub Scout leader. Lynn was very active in civic organizations in the community. He was a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, serving as president, treasurer and the Board of Directors. He also served as president of the Knife and Fork Club and the Lawton Fort Sill Kennel Club. Lynn served as treasurer of the United Way, member of the Cameron University Board and member of the Oklahoma Technical Institute Board.

Lynn worked for the J.R. Montgomery Corporation as the computer officer and as vice president at City National Bank.

Lynn is survived by his wife of the home, one son Ronald David Studebaker of Manhattan, Kansas, two daughters, Jayne Clair Gallimore and husband Fred L. of Lawton, and Cathy Lynn Schultz of Moore. Lynn is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ryan Dale Studebaker and wife Angie Christine of Lawton, Nathaniel Lynn Gallimore and Colleen Lynn of Elgin, Michelle Janae Gallimore of Lawton, Garrett David Studebaker and Jacqueline Nicole Studebaker of Manhattan, KS, Matthew Gates of Guthrie, and Crista Lynn Moudy of Okmulgee, and five great grandchildren.

He was greatly loved by his family and friends. Those blue eyes and smile will surely be missed.
