Anthony E. Seals

Birth date: January 18, 1959
Death date: November 18, 2014

Anthony E. Seals, Lawton, was born January 18, 1959, the eldest of three sons, to parents Flora and Vardaman Seals in Lawton. He died November 18, 2014 at his home at the age of 55. Raised in a Christian environment.

Anthony's faith in God began at an early age through teachings at The Barnett Chapel A.M.E. Church.

Anthony attended local schools in Lawton and was a 1977 graduate of Lawton High School. He also attended junior college in Altus for business. While Anthony was academically a good student, his greatest achievements were best revealed through his passion for sports. His natural talent and 'amazing jump shot' made Anthony a playmaker that led the Central Jr. High Cougars and Lawton High Wolverines to many victories; earning him the nickname "Magic" on the basketball courts. He was an avid sports fan committed to ESPN every day and the OU Sooners football team every season.

Anthony entered the workforce as a phone operator with Southwestern-Bell and became a supervisor in Oklahoma City when the company merged with AT&T; where he retired after 30 years of service.

Anthony always carried a special place in his heart for a group of guys (aka "The Mission Village Mugs") that grew up in the Mission Village Edition of Lawton during the 1970's. Those bonds of friendship formed a "Band of Brotherhood" that only strengthened over the years. He was a generous person who believed in giving back and paying it forward. So whether he was coaching a kids basketball team in OKC or donating his time to the Lawton Theatre Community, where he was the proud recipient of their 2013 Volunteer of the Year Award. He used his life to make a difference, with a friendly smile, a sincere hello and a willingness to listen, laugh at a joke or share a humorous life story. He left a positive impression on all he met.

Anthony believed in the strength of family and was deeply loved by his mother and father, who lived a life of faith, compassion, integrity, and service and provided a strong work ethic for all their sons. He shared a special connection to his great niece, Chayse, whose smile, laughter and innocence of life brought true joy to him. Anthony lived awesomely, laughed often and loved unconditionally. He was a loving son, awesome brother and loyal friend. He was an amazing man who lived an extraordinary life.

Anthony is preceded in death by his father, Vardaman Seals.

Survivors include his mother, Flora Seals, of Lawton; brothers, Michael Seals, of Lawton and Barry Seals of Chicago, IL; Keisha Bornette (Barry's fiance) of Chicago, IL; nieces Brittany Brown and family, Fort Polk, LA and Donnisha Seals of Chicago, IL; great-niece, Chayse Broadnay; uncle, Henry Lee Kirkwood and family of Lawton; aunts, Eula Mae Scott and family, Harvey, IL and Annabelle Ellis and Family of Rockford, IL; cousins, Gloria Hancock and family of Lawton, Dorothy Jones and family of NC; special friend, Brenda Chapman of Tuttle; as well as other nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends, (his Aunt Birdie Lee Wood and family) and two aunts.
