BEN RAINES
IS VICTIM OF
MENINGITIS

———

The third Lawton victim to the dread disease, cerebro spinal meningitis was claimed Tuesday morning in the passing of B. A. Raines, of 1005 south Second street after an illness of less than four days. Mr. Raines leaves a wife and four children to mourn his departure. Deceased was taken ill on Friday night, complaining of violent pains in the back of his head. Medical attendance was summoned and he was given every attention, there being several consultations of physicians upon his case. The endeavor to save his life was fruitless, however, and he passed away Tuesday morning at 10:30. He will be buried today at 1:30 in Pecan cemetery. On account of the nature of the disease burial will necessarily be private. Raines was 44 years of age.

Son is Improved

Coy, the sixteen year old son of deceased who was also afflicted with the dread malady is reported as greatly improved and his recovery is anticipated. The baby which was ill is also much better.
The Raines family has resided in this city for the past year. The report that they came from the epidemic stricken districts of Texas is erroneous.
