Derrick Ray Ellis

October 12, 1991 - August 15, 2019

Funeral services for Derrick Ray Ellis will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7002 SW Drakestone Avenue, with President Brian Gladwell officiating. Burial will follow in Pecan Cemetery.
Derrick passed away Thursday, August 15, 2019 after a brief illness at the age of 27. He was born October 12, 1991 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Bobby Ray and Sherrie Anne Ellis.
He attended Lawton Public Schools and graduated from MacArthur High School. Derrick was a Special Olympian who participated in bowling, softball throw and track and field events. He enjoyed eating chips and queso from one of his best-loved restaurants where Courtney and Alex were his favorite servers. His hobbies included: playing video games, recording over 700 shows onto the DVR, playing on the computer and printing coupons from his favorite restaurants, watching "Barney and Friends," swimming, and going to school.
Derrick touched and impacted numerous lives in a great variety of ways. He lit up the room with his infectious smile, loved blowing kisses to family and friends, and making "friends ever and ever." You were extra special if he gave you a big wet kiss.
Derrick is survived by his parents of the home; brother and sister-in-law Brandon and Krista; nephew Elijah; grandmother Angela Piche; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many dear friends. He will be missed by all who knew him and be forever in our hearts.
