Jason Vela

Funeral for Jason Vela, 30, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Chris Stephens and Noel Alsbrook officiating.

Mr. Vela died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, in Lawton.

Burial will be at Highland Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 15, 1971, in Lawton to John and Beth Vela. He grew up in Lawton and graduated from Lawton High School. He married Nanette Duran on March 21, 2001, in Lawton. He was self-employed as a property manager. He worked for Comanche County Memorial Hospital for several years. He was a member of Dayspring Community Church, and a drummer for "Mojo Risen" and "Afterlife." He taught drum lessons at Frontier Music Company.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Sierra Vela, of the home; his parents; a brother, Adam Vela; maternal grandmother, Wylma Bertram; and paternal grandparents, Juan and Josephine Vela, all of Lawton.

Memorial contributions may be made to Percussive Arts Society Inc., Memorial Scholarship Fund, 701 NW Ferris, Lawton 73507.
