Erma Jean Williams Sanders

Ms. Sanders passed away January 26, 2015 in Lawton.

Erma Sanders was born March 30, 1943 in Lawton to two wonderful parents: Issac and Sara B. Williams. Erma was the fourth of ten children.

She attended Lawton Public Schools, including Dunbar Elementary and graduated from Douglas High School with further studies at the Great Plains Technology Center. She was awarded numerous certificates in Civil Service.

By profession, she was a financial analyst for over thirty years in Indianapolis, IN. and Fort Campbell, KY.

One of her greatest joys was sewing and dressing with fashion.

She met and married J.D. Greer. She was blessed with two children, Ronald and Darron Greer.

She later met and married James Sanders and they traveled together while he was in the military.

She was a member of Union Baptist Church during her youth, where she was baptized by H. P. Paris. Erma served with the Baptist Training Union, Junior Choir, and was a member of the Junior Mission.

Cherishing her memory are her sons, Ronald Greer and Darron Greer of Lawton; five brothers, Deacon James Williams and wife, Margaret, Minister Harry Williams and wife Florence, both of Chickasha, OK; Lawrence Williams, Kenneth Pointer, and Morris Pointer, all of Lawton; five sisters, Margaret Renty of Los Angeles, CA., Shirley Adams-Guyton and husband Alvin, Kathy Cruikshank, and Willie Jean Pickens, all from Lawton, and Debra Beavers and husband Randal of Columbus, GA.; two grandchildren, Darron and Crystal of Cromwell, GA.; Lawrence Greer, WI.; two great grandchildren, Ni'ayshia Dorsey and Ja'Zae Dorsey, Columbus, GA.; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, grandparents, two sisters: Missionary Pearlene Williams-Lawrence and Linda Gail Stevenson, and a brother Gene Williams.
