Tommy Gene Kuchynka

Tommy Gene Kuchynka, Lawton, was born August 20, 1935 in Lawton to Thomas and Louise [Yeril] Kuchynka. He died peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was 79 years old.

Tommy grew up in Lawton where he attended Bishop and Lawton Public Schools.

He married Doris Roberts on April 5, 1957; she preceded him in death on August 8, 2008.

Tommy was a police officer for the Lawton Police Department, where he retired as a Lieutenant in 1979. He then went to work as a police officer at Cameron University from 1980-1989, where he worked until he was forced to retire due to his health.

Tommy was a very hard worker, often taking on multiple jobs, but he always found time to support his family's activities.

He loved to travel, and spent many summers in the car driving with family to visit amusement parks, attend baseball games and OU football games, and going on trips to Las Vegas.

He was a caring man and had a special place in his heart for all animals; they were drawn to him. Later in his life he wouldn't sit in his recliner without a dog at his side or in his lap. His kindness and care will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris; his parents; brother, Ben Kuchynka; sisters, Lillie Swann, Betty Lamb, and Julia Huggens.

Survivors include his sons, Randell Kuchynka of Lawton and Danny Kuchynka and wife Kellye of Lawton; daughter, Tammy Kuchynka of Lawton; granddaughter, Meghan Kuchynka; grandson, Darren Kuchynka; and great-grandson, Michael Lee Brown of Altus. He also leaves behind many friends.
