Sandra Kay Carson~Bowens

Funeral for Sandra Carson~Bowens, 50, Lawton, will be at 1:p.m. Monday at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. James Gorham, pastor, officiating.

Ms. Carson-Bowens died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, in Lawton. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service. She was born Jan.17, 1962, in Cameron, Texas, to Willie Carson Sr. and Erma Carson. She attended school in Texas. She moved to Lawton in 1975 and attended Lawton Public Schools and nursing school at Vo-Tech. Ms. Carson-Bowens had worked several years at area nursing homes. She was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed shopping and cooking and helping the homeless.

Survivors include six daughters and two sons: Temika Carson- Hills (Brandon), Colorado Springs, Colo.; Joquailla Bowens, Lawton; Ashley Bowens, Washington D.C.; DeMaria Watts,Gainesville, Fla.; Clarence Bowens (Jawarne), Colorado Springs, Colo.; Acuranae "Alexis" Bowens, Lawton; Armani Bowens, Indianapolis; and Jada Bowens, Lawton; grandchildren: Ashaily, Brandon, Teasiah, Taedrian and Ashton; sisters: Wanda Francis (Jack), Carolyn Carson, Reta Carson-Banks (Bennie), and Dortheia Williams, all of Lawton; brothers: Timothy Carson,Willie Carson, Richard Carson, Troy Carson and Michael Carson, all of Lawton; two stepsisters and two stepbrothers, of Ballinger,Texas; uncle, L.C. Jones, Hempstead, Texas; great-aunt: Beulah Slade, Lawton; special friends: Debra Walker, Deloris Crowder, Maralyn Holloway, Carnell Jackson, Stephen Holman, Sherry Gamble and Opal Wilson; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunta uncles, cousins and extended family and additional special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Carson Sr. and Erma Carson; and two brothers: Harold Bowens and Lee Carson.

2:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service 6210 NW Cache Road Lawton Oklahoma 73505

Service:
1:00 pm on Monday, October 1, 2012 at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church 2101 SW NH Jones Lawton OK 73505
