Candis Arlena Simpson-Thomas

Oklahoma City -- Funeral for Candis A. Simpson-Thomas, 44, Oklahoma City, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at New Hope Church of God In Christ with Michael Cross, superintendent, officiating.

Mrs. Thomas died Monday, July 21, 2008 in Oklahoma City.

Burial will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under direction of Howard-Harris Funeral Services, Lawton.

She was born Aug. 3, 1963, to Theodore Simpson Sr. and Mattie Simpson, Lawton.

She grew up attending St. Elmo Baptist Church and directed various church choirs. She later attended New Hope Church of God In Christ.

She attended Roosevelt Elementary, Tomlinson Junior High School and graduated from Lawton High School. She attended Platt College and completed licensed practical nursing training.

She married Michael Thomas in July 1999 in Wichita Falls, Texas. They moved to Oklahoma City in 2000.

She worked in the medical field until her health prevented her. She was a member of Temple of Compassion Church of God In Christ, Oklahoma City, where she was a leader of praise and worship, president of the choir, and an adult Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; two daughters: She'Nikka and LaQesha Simpson, both of Oklahoma City; a brother and sister-in-law, Theodore and Shelly Simpson, Gainesville; her father, of Lawton; four nieces; many aunts and uncles; special cousins: Doris Spinks, Mel Spinks, Jacqueline Miller; and special friends, Lois Graines and Dewenia Stormer.

She was preceded in death by her mother and her grandparents.

Friends may call from noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
