Anna L. [Moore] Carter

Mrs. Carter was born July 23, 1923 in Woodstock, Texas, to Paul and Mable Moore.

She married Arvie Joe Batchelor in 1940 and they divorced in 1947. She married Russell Carter in Lawton in March of 1955.

Her parents, a son, Arvie Lynn Batchelor, and three sisters, Minnie Tuttle, Millie Norman and Mary Bortolazzo, and a brother, James Lynn Moore, preceded her in death.

Veta E. C. [Cates] Carter

APACHE - Graveside memorial service for Veta E. C. Carter, 78, Apache, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.

Ms. Carter died Saturday, June 27, 2009, in Apache.

Arrangements are under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

She was born April 7, 1931, in Lubbock, Texas, to John Preston and Cora Belle Townsend Cates.

She served in the Women's Army Corps from April 28, 1960, until 1969 as a staff sargent. She retired as the chief of civilian pay at Fort Sill in 1988, after 19 years of service. She was a bus driver for soldiers during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Survivors include a cousin, Donna Covert of the home; and a niece, Mary Ellen Blankenship, New Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Emma Bell Blankenship and Johnny Mae Hennington.

Glen Karden Carter

U.S. Veteran Retired SSG Glen Herman Carter, Lawton, was born June 25, 1933 in Palmyra, Missouri to Archie and Erah Carter.

He passed away July 7, 2016 at the age of 83.

A visitation will be held Monday, July 11, 2016 from 6pm-8pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 10:00am at Northwest Baptist Church with Pastor George Mayes officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.

Glen married Joyce Ann Moore on December 20, 1956.

Glen enlisted in the United States Army and served for 20 years until his retirement. His awards include: The National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal x3, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with Device, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and SS Badge Rifle.

After his honorable discharge, he went to work for the Coke Bottling Company until his second retirement.

In his free time he enjoyed bowling, playing horseshoes and softball in the Army and playing dominoes. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Lawton Farmer's Market.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Jo and his sister, Ruth Maya.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce, of the home; children: George Carter and wife Becky of West Fargo, ND; William Carter of Lawton; Donald Carter and wife Jackie of Flower Mound, TX; Harold Carter of Ada, MN; stepson, Terry Moore and wife Renee of Good Hope, IL; grandchildren: Jennifer Carter, Jestin Carter, Taylor Carter, David Carter, Kayla Carter, Kaden Carter, Jeremy Moore, and Courtney Formhalf and husband Tim; 2 great grandchildren: Lyla Formhalf and Kevin Carter; and sister, Helen Clark. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends.

Larry Neal Carter

Larry Neal Carter was born August 25, 1945 in Ruleville, Mississippi to Audie [Sudduth] and Grady Adams Carter. He died peacefully in his home with family members at his side on January 22, 2014 in Cache, Oklahoma at the age of 68 years.

He was raised in Roundaway, Mississippi where he attended the local schools.

He enlisted into the US Army and served in the Field Artillery for over twenty-two years, until his retirement. While serving in the army he received many decorations and honors to include: Meritorious Service Medal with 1st Oak Leaf, Army Commendation Medal with 1st Oak Leaf, Good Conduct Medal 7th Award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Four Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon-3, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon-2, Three Overseas Service Bars, Expert Badge Rifle M-16. He served two tours of combat in Vietnam. He was stationed in overseas assignments, including Germany, and many stateside assignments, including Fort Sill, which became home.

After his military retirement he attended Cameron University earning a degree in business administration. He later worked at C2 Technology, who developed flight simulators for the Department of Defense. He loved anything that needed oil or grease. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting outdoors. He always had a beautiful garden and he loved to collect anything that held his fancy at any given time. He was a pilot and LOVED to fly.

He was a 32 Degree Mason and a member of Wichita Baptist Church of Cache.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Grady and Audie Carter; three brothers, Walter Carter, Rayford Carter and James Carter; one sister, Barbara Carter.

He is survived by six sons: John Carter and his wife Cheryl, of St Mary's, GA Patrick Carter and his wife Karen, of Tega Cay, SC, Henry Carter, of Lawton, Frank Carter, of Cache, Jarius Campbell, of Hollis and Thaddaeus Carter, of Hollis; three daughters, Audrey Lawler and her husband Colby, of Lawton, Barbara Jolin and her husband Bobby, of Yukon and Starr Carter, of Hollis; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Edward Carter, and his wife Frances, of Tennessee, Jerry Carter, of Mississippi and Marion Carter and his wife Tommie, of Mississippi; three sisters, Patricia Peters, of Mississippi, Betty Sutter and her husband Richard, of Texas, and Deborah Toothman and her husband Curtis, of Texas. He also had many loving family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Visitation:
6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service 6210 NW Cache Road Lawton Oklahoma 73505.

Service:
11:30 am on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Whinery-Huddleston Chapel 6210 NW Cache Road Lawton Oklahoma 73505. With Masonic Rites.

Calvin Earl Carter

Calvin Earl Carter died suddenly of a heart attack Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was born Feb. 15, 1946, in Wellington, TX to Rosa and Huston Carter.

He graduated from Bakersfield High School in Bakersfield, CA.

He then served honorably in the United States Navy from March 1966 to Nov. 1971 earning the rank of petty officer second class and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

After leaving the service, Calvin became a Journeyman Electrician, a job he performed until his death. Specializing in digital controls, he had been a member of IBEW-NECA Local Union 1141 in Oklahoma City since age 27.

Calvin was a great family man and a loving father.

Calvin was married to Brenda Brittingham, resulting in two children, Jeremy Carter and Jeana Marchant, and then was married to Linda Woods for 30 years, resulting in two children, Anthony and Whitney.

He enjoyed working, going to casinos, playing cards, camping and watching TV. His family and friends will always remember him as an intelligent, loving, and generous person who was always willing to help with no thought for himself. He always had a thirst for knowledge and was never happier than when he was teaching someone how to do something or learning something new himself.

Calvin is survived by his children, Jeremy Carter, Jeana Marchant, Anthony Carter, and Whitney Carter; and his siblings, Janice Carter, Melba Gibbins, Gerald Carter, Kathryn Madson, and Rosa Wages.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa and Huston Carter; his brothers, Huston Carter, Jr. and Milton Carter; and his sister, Emily Maguire.

His funeral is scheduled for Dec. 30, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. at Crews Funeral Home at 122 E. Floyd Ave., Apache, OK, 580-588-3366. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Calvin's life.

Darrell W. Carter

Funeral services for Darrell W. Carter, 61, Lawton, will be 12:30 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2013, in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Mallow officiating.

Mr. Carter died Sunday, November 3 in Lawton.

Burial, with military honors, will be in the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma.

c Mr. Carter was born November 9, 1951, at Cordell, Oklahoma, to Otis and Bertha Carter.

He grew up in Cordell and was a 1970 graduate of Cordell High School.

He married Sharon Miles on June 18, 1975, at Lawton.

Mr. Carter served in the U.S. Army for six years as an air traffic controller. He later worked for Haliburton in Burns Flat and then the Fort Sill Fire Department until his retirement.

He enjoyed watching his son compete in dirt bike races.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; a son, Cody Carter, Lawton; five siblings, Ronald Carter, Wendell Carter, Randall Carter and Cynthia Walker, all of Cordell, and Lana Clayton, North Carolina; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Madonna Sue [Fikes] Carter

Madonna Carter, 52, of Duke, passed away, Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday at the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Blair.

Interment will follow at 1 p.m. in the Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Madonna Sue Fike was born to Henry and Rosalie [Worley] Fikes Aug. 22, 1955, in Dumas, Texas.

She attended school in the Erick and Union City area, after which she worked in the restaurant business in the Oklahoma City area. Later she and her mother, Rosalie Rowden, worked as professional seamstress' in the curtain manufacturing industry.

In 1989 she moved to Duke, in 1991 she was the head cook at the Altus Head Start Program.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Duke and married the love of her life, William R. Carter there on July 11, 1992.

Madonna loved cooking, watching the food network, crocheting, peaceful sunny days at the lake camping, loving and caring for her nieces and nephews all their lives, and donating time and money to the Head Start Kids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gene Fikes; and sister, Fern Reynolds.

She is survived by her husband Ricky of the home; one brother, Cleve Fikes and his wife Charlotte of Hampton, Va.; four nieces, April Williams and husband Marvin of Newcastle, Rhonda Sherrer and husband Steve of Lawton, Beverly Cramton and husband Chad of Duncan, and Michelle Ingram and husband Garry of El Reno; three nephews, Kevin Fikes of El Reno, Michael Fikes and wife Kriste of El Reno, and Jeff Reynolds and wife Mayela of Altus.
