LINDA LU SOMERS

November 26, 1939 - March 18, 2020

Linda Somers, age 80 of Lexington, passed away Wednesday March 18, 2020. Linda Lu Huffman was born November 26, 1939 in Medford, OK, the baby of 7 children born to Elmer John Huffman and Syble (Rankin) Huffman. She was raised in Medford and attended school there, graduating with the Cardinal Class of 1958. Linda married young, to a young serviceman she had known for many years. His name was Homer O. Somers and they were married in Medford on December 7, 1958. Together they raised two sons, John and Mark. They lived in various cities along the Eastern Coast while he served his country. In the mid 1970's they moved back home to Oklahoma and by 1981 had settled in Lexington. Throughout the years, Linda worked as a Correctional Counselor and eventually retired from L.A.R.C. She cherished her family and especially her grandchildren, and she lived everyday for her family. She was a woman of great faith and a member of the United Methodist Church in Lexington. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by:
Her husband, Homer O. Somers;
Her parents, Elmer & Sybil Huffman;
Siblings, Kenneth Huffman, Neva Dalpez, Bob Huffman, Dwight Huffman and E.J. Huffman.
Linda is survived by:
Sons, John Somers and wife Aileen and Mark Somers and wife Heidi, all of Lexington;
Brother, Max Huffman and wife Sharon of Wichita, KS;
5 grandchildren, Andrew and Diana, Kelly Ann and Joseph, John Kyle and Rachel, Daniel and Kirsten and Tyler John and Kelsey;
2 great grandchildren, McKenzie Lane and Mark Anthony and Another, Mason Drake, on the way;
And a host of other family and friends.
A Graveside Funeral Service is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin.
