James L. "Jim" Hodge

August 21, 1931 - February 24, 2017

His journey began August 21, 1931 In Rush Springs, OK to James M. and Opal Hodge. Jim passed on Friday, February 24, 2017 at his home in Edmond, OK. He graduated from Lawton High School in 1949 and Oklahoma State University in 1953 with a BS in Education. He played football on scholarship for OSU.
He married the love of his life, Elizabeth Ann Ballard, August 7, 1953 then began their family raising 3 beautiful children; twins Michael Hodge and Kimberle (Allen) and Kristen (Hoyt).
Jim served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 - 1979. He was stationed throughout the United States and abroad. He retired as a Colonel after serving with the Strategic Air Command.
He was an avid OSU fan, loved playing golf, watching sports, fishing, water-skiing, drinking cheap red wine and telling jokes. He was a BIG man with a BIG heart. He never missed an opportunity to lend a hand, listen or offer gentle advice to his family and friends. He never missed an opportunity to smile.
He is survived by his 3 children and 7 grandchildren; Christopher, Cody, Daniel, John, Zac, Kasady and Micah.
Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 10:00 am Touchmark at Coffee Creek, Grand Hall 2801 Shortgrass Road; Edmond, OK. Inurnnment will be held Friday, March 3, 2017 at 2:00 pm Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma.
