Larry Goins

September 19, 1959 - July 02, 2016

Lt. Colonel Larry Goins died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones in the VA Medical Center on July 2, 2016 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 56.
Larry is survived by his parents, Leroy Goins and Martha Goins; wife, Lorna Goins; children, William and Lyrics Goins; siblings, Ray, Nancy, Don, and Tim Goins. He is preceded in death by William Warren Bouie, Bonnie Ray Babbs, Marcus Norman Goins, and Velma Goins. Larry was born on September 19, 1959 in Oklahoma City, OK to Leroy and Martha Goins. He graduated from Northeastern State University in 1989 with degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice. He graduated from the law school at the University of Oklahoma in 1992 with a JD in law. He married Lorna Layco, his pen pal in 1992. After moving to Oklahoma City, Larry began working for himself as an attorney. Over the next few years, the couple welcomed two children into their home and set about teaching them about God. His children remember him as a kind, patient, loving, intelligent father who encouraged them to walk near to God. Larry was an accomplished officer for the US Army, officer for his church, and attorney and often volunteered his expertise with no expectations of payment or return. Larry served his country in tours in Kuwait in 2002 and in Afghanistan in 2005. He was a generous, witty, humorous individual who loved everyone and who was passionate about God and caring for others. He was an active and dedicated member of Bible Baptist Church in Lawton, OK and often volunteered there. A funeral is scheduled for July 9, 2016 at Bible Baptist Church located at 7501 SW Lee Blvd, Lawton, OK 73505, with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall at the church. Dr. Bob Weger will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Larry's life.
