Ruby Lee Hill

December 31, 1938 - September 18, 2026

Ruby Lee Hill of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026. Born on December 31, 1938, in Hollister, Oklahoma, Ruby was born to Henry Lee Body and Mary Etta Waters. She was raised by W. W. Adams and Roberta Adams in Frederick, Oklahoma. She lived a life marked by faith, strength, love, determination, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Early in her life, Ruby joined the Church of Christ on Lee Boulevard, where she remained a faithful and devoted member. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she carried that devotion throughout her life.
Ruby was a woman of remarkable strength, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family. She dedicated her life to raising and caring for four sets of children, including two sets of grandchildren whom she lovingly raised after the passing of two of her daughters. She faced life's greatest challenges with courage, love, and determination, always giving her family the guidance, support, and care they needed. Her strength carried her family through some of life's most difficult moments, and her love for them never wavered.
She married her beloved husband, Dennis E. Hill, on November 16, 1973. As a military wife, she built a life centered around family and stood strong through life's challenges. She loved her family deeply and cherished the many friendships she made along the way.
Ruby was a woman who knew how to enjoy life. She loved to travel, and cruises were among her favorite adventures. She enjoyed being active and social through her bowling league and dart league, and she especially loved line dancing. Ruby also loved playing cards and bingo and was a skillful card player who knew how to keep the game interesting.
Ruby was a woman of service and community. She became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Giessen, Germany. She was also a lifetime member of VFW Post 1193, where she later served as a manager. In 2016, she became a member of the Deja Vu Social and Civic Club, where she enjoyed fellowship and friendship with others.
Ruby's work history reflected her dedication, versatility, and willingness to serve others. In the 1970s, she worked as a cook and server in the mess hall on Fort Sill. She later worked at Hagger's as a seamstress and also worked in customer service at the PX on Fort Sill. She was a devoted homemaker who took pride in caring for her family and home. She also drove the bingo van for Lucky Star Bingo, bringing her outgoing personality and love of bingo into another role of service to her community.
Ruby was truly a live wire--filled with love, ambition, energy, and a spirit that could ignite everyone within her path. She had a way of making her presence known and leaving an impression on everyone she encountered. Her strength, laughter, determination, and love will be remembered by all who knew her.
Ruby was preceded in death by her grandparents, W. W. Adams and Roberta Adams; her parents, Mary Etta Adams and Henry Lee Body; her siblings, James R. Dixon Sr. and Georgetta Dixon; her daughters, Brenda D. Bohanan and Cheryl L. Finley; her son-in-law, Dion McBride; and her beloved husband, Dennis E. Hill.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children and their families, including Bobby D. Finley (Anissa) of Lawton, Oklahoma; Debra D. McBride (Trevor) of Lawton, Oklahoma; Michael M. Hill of Arlington, Texas; and Kevin D. Hill (Kristen) of San Antonio, Texas. She also leaves a special cousin, Ronnie Garrett; her siblings, Elder Kenneth M. Body (Betty) of Taft, Texas, and Patsy Marty of Wichita, Kansas; her beloved puppy, Cody, whom she loved very dearly; along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, cherished friends, and many others whose lives she touched.
Ruby's legacy is one of faith, resilience, family, friendship, and an extraordinary zest for life. Though she has left this earthly journey, the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Rest peacefully, Ruby. Your light, your strength, and your love will never be forgotten.
