Wilma "Nell" Crabtree

February 18, 1927 - August 11, 2017

Wilma "Nell" Crabtree, age 90, of Lawton passed away Friday, August 11, 2017.
Nell was born in Quitman, Texas on February 18, 1927 to Vernon and Beulah (Barnett) Rogers. She had a wonderful childhood growing up with two sisters and one brother. She graduated from Yantis High School in 1945. Nell came to Cache to visit her sister and brother-in-law that was stationed at Fort Sill in June of 1946. She went to work at Craterville Park and met Marvin Crabtree her first day there. Her and Marvin married one year later on June 7, 1947. She became an Okie! During their fifty-three years of marriage, they had two children, Jack and Teresa. She was a stay at home mom until the kids were in school. Nell worked at The Trading Post in Cache, Maloy’s Grocery, Cache Public Schools, where she was the first woman school bus driver, and at CKT Rural Water for nineteen years until her retirement. She also traveled with Marvin as he announced rodeos in Oklahoma and Texas. Nell enjoyed cooking, especially the BEST Fried Pies, sewing and crocheting for her family, but most of all she loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. Nell will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her parents and her husband Marvin; one grandson, Colt Cowin; one brother, Charles Rogers and one sister, Madelyn Blaney. Nell is survived by her son, Jack Crabtree and wife Teresa of Lawton and her daughter, Teresa Cowin and husband Boots of Sterling; grandchildren, Karie Moorehead and Brian, Justin Cowin and Cody Crabtree; great grandchildren, Austen and Ashlyn Moorehead, Randon Crabtree and Bronc Cowin; one sister, Dolores Kennemer and many nieces and nephews.
