Floyd "Joe" Weldon Woods

Funeral services for Floyd "Joe" Weldon Woods, a Coalgate resident, will be held Wednesday, (today) November 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Mr. Arvel Hall officiating. Burial will be at Wilson Cemetery with Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Woods was born December 22, 1929 in Clarita, OK to George Dewey and Beatrice Delana (Kerr) Woods and passed away November 18, 2011 in Plano, TX at the age of 81. He attended Clarita schools and married Katheryn Stone, later married Imogene Woods. Floyd was a veteran of the Korean War and also a heavy equipment mechanic for Bemis Construction of Great Bend, KS. He was a member of the VFW Post #4859 and was awarded a purple heart. Floyd enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include siblings, Bernice Green of Pasadena, TX, Melvin Woods of Clarita, Billy Earl Woods of Connerville, OK, Marthell Brantly and husband, Carroll of Searcy, OK, Jerry Odell Woods and wife, Linda of Coalgate; step children, Eddie Fields, Eddi Fanning and husband Randy of Cedar Creek, TX, Becky Burks and husband, Gary of Rowlett, TX, Beth Baker and husband, Greg of Allen, TX, Richard Rose and wife, Rhonda of Caddo, OK; 18 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, W. D. "Bud" Woods; sister, Floy Helen (Woods) Peryman; wife, Katheryn (Stone) Woods; step-children, Gerry Rose and Debbie Rose.

Casketbearers will be Bryan Franks, Shannon Weaver, Rick Rose, Eric Rose, Bruce Woods and Mike Niblett.
