Funeral services for LaQuinta Carolyn (Pebworth) Griswold, a Coal County resident, were held Friday, May 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Lehigh Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Magby officiating. Burial was at Wilson Cemetery with Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

On Tuesday, May 24, 2011 LaQuinta Carolyn Pebworth Griswold passed away into the loving arms of her creator at the age of 71, at the Chickasaw Nation Hospital in Ada, OK after a long illness. Carolyn was born in Coalgate, Oklahoma to Hettie Inez and William "Mac" Pebworth on September 27, 1939. She married Cecil Ray Paxton in 1955 and became a stay at home mom to her two children. In 1960 she married A. B. "Joe" Grisworld and had her third child. They made their home in Texas and started a business where she was bookkeeper and the secretary until the death of her husband. Carolyn then returned to Oklahoma to complete her life.

As a mom, she was a tiny woman but fought for what she believed. We each knew her in a different way wither as a son, daughter, grandchild, sister, aunt, friend or mentor. In the moments, as we reflect on her life, remember the relationship you shared with her, the tears, the laughter and all the good times. And in that way, Carolyn will never really die, but will remain immortal in our hearts.

Carolyn loved crossword puzzles, reading, sewing and gardening. Most of all she loved her dog "Molly" and all other animals. She always had a twinkle in her eye and words of love with a heart always open to anyone or anything in need. A baby in her reach always meant there would be hugs and kisses galore. She loved all her kids and was called "Meemaw" by many. She gave to us all love and strength.

Carolyn was a member of the Lehigh Baptist Church for many years.

Preceding her in death were her husbands, Cecil Ray Paxton and A. B. "Joe" Griswold; her mother, Inez Hilburn Caldwell; father, William Malcolm Pebworth; step fathers, Lee Oldham and Luther Caldwell adn a step-brother, Wayne Caldwell.

Carolyn was survived by three children; daughter, Susan and her husband Mark Walker of Lehigh, OK; son, Danny and his wife Rhonda Griswold of Bowie, TX and son, Tim and his wife Lee Griswold of Sanger, TX; one step-son, Gary and his wife Janet Griswold of Bowie, TX; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; one sister, Vicky Oldham Thomas; one step-brother, Velton Caldwell; a niece, two great nieces; one great nephew; one great-great nephew along with other relatives and dear and loved friends.

Pallbearers were Ben Griswold, Markus Woods, Dereck Smith, Jases Brown, Wade Brown and Kelly Ryan. Honorary bearers were David Townsend, Rodger Langston, Nick Beal, Richard Orr and Justin Walker.
