Velda Jo (Baker) Mayo, a Coalgate resident, was born on April 6, 1941, to George Sidney and Hannah Pauline (Shelton) Baker, at Bennington, Oklahoma. She passed away on September 10, 2025 at Coalgate, Oklahoma, at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 4 days. Velda attended school in Boswell. She worked as a cook for Wapanucka and Harmony Schools and was also a waitress and cook at the Brandon Iron Cafe'. Velda's greatest accomplishment was raising her 5 boys, Larry, Terry, Perry, Jerry and Barry. She was a member of the Wapanucka Baptist Church. Velda enjoyed puzzles, arts and crafts, gardening and yard selling.

Brother: Tony Baker and wife Mary of Webb City, MO
Along with numerous nieces and nephews
