Martha Naomi Stewart of Norman, OK entered into the presence of Jesus on Friday
January 2nd, 2015 at the age of 92, after a short battle with Lung Cancer.

Martha was born on January 30th, 1922, to James and Nettie Ferguson in Purcell OK.
She was 5th of 11 children: Valma, Edward, Kenneth, Carl, Delbert, Marceille, Marceda,
Ruby, Jimmie, and Donnie.

The majority of her childhood years were spent in the Purcell area until she
married Dewey Carlton Stewart on May 20th, 1939.  They spent a few years in Texas, then Missouri until they moved to Oklahoma in 1959.

Martha was an amazing mother to her four children, Wayne, Martha Jane, Judy and Mike.  Martha worked as a cook at a Sorority house in Norman and then as bakery cook
at the hospital until she retired in1980.  She never really retired. She was a faithful member of Berry Road Baptist church, in which she did the majority of the cooking. She baked cookies, banana nut, and  apple breads for church events, her daughters hair salon, the mall, and all the family and friends who entered her door. She was known as “the cookie lady.”

In 2004, Martha and her daughter Martha Jane went to New York City to be on the Martha Stewart show. She was faithful follower of the Lord and if she saw a need she filled a need.  At the age of 87, a Sunday morning request came for 13 loaves of banana nut bread for Falls Creek Kids leaving Monday- she did it and that was the last time she baked.  She gave as long as she was able, always exemplifying the unconditional love of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dewey, son Wayne, 5 brothers:
Edward, Kenneth, Carl, Delbert, and Donnie, four sisters: Valma, Marceille, Marceda, & Ruby.

She is survived by two daughters: Martha Jane Dilks and husband Larry of Norman, Judith Ann Bray and husband Bill of Norman, son Mike Stewart and wife Anita of Washington, daughter in law Karin Stewart of Norman, sister Jimmie Dean and husband Clifford, brother in law Al Thalmon, and sister in law Audrey Ferguson, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and adopted children.

Services will be 1:00 Wednesday January 7, 2015 at Berry Road Baptist Church in Norman with Pastor Josh Wagner officiating.  Pallbearers will be her 7 grandsons:  Rick Dilks of Owasso, Billy D. Bray of Norman, Ron Stewart of Norman, Greg Bray of Wichita, KS, Chris Bray of Moore, Teddy Stewart of Norman, and Jeff Stewart of Norman.

Family will be receiving friends at Havenbrook Funeral Home from 6pm-8pm Tuesday January 6th, 2015.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Berry Road Baptist Church.
