Funeral services for Marlon Welker, age 36, of Moore, will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, September 24, 2011 in The Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman with Reverend Joe Hancock officiating. 

Marlon born in Ft. Worth, Texas was the beloved son of David and Cathey Welker.  The family later moved to Oklahoma City, where Marlon attended Putnam City Public Schools, graduating from Putnam City North in 1994.  After high school, Marlon enlisted into the United States Navy, serving four years before being honorably discharged in 1998. 

He later enrolled at the University of Oklahoma, majoring in Mechanical Engineering, obtaining his Bachelor of Science Degree in December of 2002.  Marlon was employed as a Mechanical Engineer in the Aeronautical Division of Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City. 

Marlon was a member of the Church of the Epiphany of the Lord in Oklahoma City.  In his spare time, he enjoyed wake boarding, snow boarding, hunting, fishing and was an avid outdoors man.

Survivors include his parents, Dave and Cathey Welker of Oklahoma City; his four children, Keegan Welker, Kyler Welker, Sierra Welker, Cheyla Welker and their mother, Yvette; one brother, Eric Welker of Colorado; Uncles and Aunts, Del and Mary Johnnene of Texas and David and Joan Armstrong of Colorado; his girlfriend, Michelle Schwenke of Moore; his half sister, Jennifer Detec; and a host of cousins, additional family members and many, many loving friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and one uncle, Glen Johnnene.

The Welker family will greet friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home.

Burial will conclude in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman.  Arrangements for Marlon and his family were placed in the care of The Vice Family and Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
