Gladys A. Jensen, age 92, passed away early Friday morning, December 16, at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma.  Gladys was not alone as she took her final journey into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ.  She was surrounded by her son, Donald Jensen and his wife Teddy, her daughter, Barbara Jensen, all of Norman and Senior Pastor Jerry Rhoades of Crosspointe Church, Norman.

Gladys was born, October 3, 1924 to Clifford and Minnie Farber in Tracy, Minnesota.  On January 10, 1945, she married Ernest Jensen, at Brooklyn Center, Minnesota.  They had seven children: Robert Curtis born in October, 1945, Delores Jean born in February, 1947, Ernest Eugene born in September, 1948. James Jerome born in January 1950, Donald Robert born in February, 1951, Ronald Sigfred born in July, 1952, and Barbara Ann born in August, 1953.

Gladys faced many challenges in her life, but a couple of the biggest challenges were the loss of her two oldest children Robert and Delores in a house fire in January, 1950 and one month later her brother Donald was killed.  She also lost her father Clifford Farber in April 1965 and her husband Ernest Jensen in August 1965.

In 1986 Gladys made the decision to move to Norman, Oklahoma to be closer to her three sons, Eugene, James and Donald.  Gladys made Rose Rock Villa, where her son James lived her home for over 20 years.  She worked as a Management Representative (MR) who checked the residents’ flags at night to make sure the residents were all safe.  She served on different committees at Rose Rock and worked in the lunch room.  She, putting her cooking talents to work would make several pies, cookies and mini breads to sell at the bake sales they would have at Rose Rock.  Her pies were so delicious that some of the office staff would even ask her to make pies for their Thanksgiving dinners.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, her sons Robert, Eugene and James, her daughter Delores, her parents, her sisters Dorothy Sorem and Louise Meyer, her brothers Donald, Robert and Clifford, her daughter-in-law Susan Jensen, her sister-in-law Beverly Farber, and her nephew Arthur Sayre.

She is survived by her son Donald R. (Teddy) Jensen of Norman, Oklahoma, her son Ronald S. Jensen of O’Neill, Nebraska and her daughter Barbara A. Jensen of Norman, Oklahoma.  Her sister Viola Mae Bohannon of Yucca Valley, California, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.  She will be deeply missed by all who loved her and all the lives that she touched.
