Robert "Bob" Chapman Adams, 84, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed peacefully on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Public viewing to be held Friday, April 30, 2021, at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home, 3925 N. Asbury Ave, Bethany, OK, from 10a.m.-8p.m. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 10a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Norman, OK.

Bob was born on February 1, 1937, in Garber, Oklahoma, to Truman and Alta Adams. Bob married Shirley (Elmore) Cottingham on September 25, 1981.

He is survived by his sister, Bertha Lois Hostetler of Billings, OK; children, Cyndee Eckhardt of Jet, OK, Carrie Green & husband Donny of Utopia, TX, Stephen Cottingham and wife Karen of Santa Ynez, CA, Sherri Bennett and husband Philip of Coppell, TX, and Chris Cottingham and wife Jaklyn of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Amanda Hopkins and husband Wesley of Jet, OK, Amy Eckhardt of Mustang, OK, Joshua Cottingham and wife Jessica of Los Angeles, CA, Adam Cottingham and wife Maureen of Camarillo, CA, Elissa Bennett and husband Farren Burchett of Little Elm, TX, Tiffany Bennett and partner Lauren Trestler of Oakland, CA, Marlo Chapman and husband John of Fayetteville, NC, and Caden, Connor, and Teague Cottingham of Edmond, OK; great-grandchildren, Aliya, Alexis, Nick, Alyssa, Quincey, Cash, Leon, Violet, and one baby boy on the way. Bob is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents, Truman and Alta; daughter, Cami Adams; and his beloved dog, Buck.

Bob retired as a conductor from the Santa Fe Railroad after 40 years where he made many lifelong friends. He was also an avid sports fanatic. He played baseball for Oklahoma State University, loved the St Louis Cardinals and the OKC Thunder, where he and Shirley worked as event staff in their retirement years. In addition, he enjoyed horse racing, poker, bridge, pitch dominoes (for money, of course), and frequenting all the local casinos.

He loved life, traveling, gardening, fishing, and he loved his family dearly. Bob never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew him. To share a memory or condolence, visit Mercer-Adams.
