Marvin Alton Pierce, 91, passed from this life February 28, 2016 in Oklahoma City. He was born March 1, 1924 in Garvin County, OK to Jessie and Mollie (Mathis) Pierce. Growing up, Marvin helped his family by working on their family farm and eventually went on to become a truck driver. He married Nellie LaVerne Brown on August 17, 1944 and three children came from this union. Marvin enjoyed yard work, gardening, and landscaping. He also enjoyed traveling on his Harley, and waterskiing with his family at Lake Texoma.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 65 years, Nellie; grandson, Ryan Pierce; great grandson, Kody Pierce; brothers, Eugene Pierce and “Baby Orville;” and sisters, Pauline Flowers and Irene Daly.

He is survived by his sons, Lennis Pierce and Jesse Pierce; daughter, Sue Ellen Wood; grandchildren, Rebecka Wood and Crystal Wood; great grandchildren, Zakery Pierce, Destinee Porter, Brandon Richards, Alicia Wood, Alex Wood, and Adam Wood; brother, Richard Pierce and wife Sue; and sister, Lorene Price.

Visitation will be held 11am-8pm Thursday, and 8am-8pm Friday. A celebration of Marvin’s life will be held 2:30pm Saturday at the Resthaven Funeral Home chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Resthaven Funeral Home, resthavenokc.com
