Velma Pauline Dodson Velma Mercer Dodson died Friday, Jan. 1, 2016 in Norman.  She was born to Arthur and Barsha Mercer on Aug. 31, 1915.  She married Dayton Dodson in 1933.
 
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, her brother Lloyd, and grandson Stephen Callas Dodson, Sr.  She is survived by sons Andy (Norma) Dodson of Nashville and Gary (Judy) Dodson of Norman. She is also survived by  grandchildren Mark (Toya) Dodson, Melissa (Mike) Gogel, Angela (Ron) Lock, Shane (Tammi) Dodson, Daniel Dodson, and Heather (David) Thompson, and  her beloved eleven great grandchildren.  
 
Velma was a long time member of Norman First Baptist Church.  More recently she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
 
She enjoyed knitting caps for newborns, gardening, and working at her son’s business, “Dodson’s Nutritional Food Center” for many years.
 
Velma delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and baked many cakes for their birthdays.  She also enjoyed traveling and hanging out with her dear friends “Little Old Ladies”.
 
Visitation is scheduled for Monday morning at 9:00, with services following at 10:00 at Havenbrook Funeral Home.
