Frederick (Fred) Marion Stanley, Sr. was born on January 16, 1949 in Denver, Colorado. He was the eldest of five children to M.C. and Bertha Stanley.

Fred graduated from Midwest City High School in 1967 and then attended Oklahoma Baptist University upon graduation. After receiving his formal education, Fred went into sales. Most recently, he was a publisher's representative where he received many distinguished awards and honors.

Even though Fred worked hard, he never forgot about his family. His loving wife, Brenda, was always by his side to honor and care for him. Together they enjoyed dining at fine restaurants, gardening, and going on trips "down the road a piece." His precious dog, Little Girl, was constantly by his side to comfort him as he struggled through his battle with cancer for the past nine years.

Fred was the proud father of three outstanding boys Freddy, Matthew and John.

Fred enjoyed attending all their activities and watching them grow to become successful men. He delighted in his three grandchildren, Carson, Brooke, and Heidi and believed they were his greatest achievement. He enjoyed incorporating his grandchildren into one of his favorite hobbies, gardening. In fact, the entrance to his garden says, "Granddad, Carson, and Brooke's Produce Farm."

He had an amazing ability to make plants grow and flourish. It seemed as though they could hear him talking to them and encouraging them to grow. He also loved music. His favorites were Gospel and Old Time Rock 'N' Roll. He was a talented musician, but didn't readily share his talent with others. On occasion, you could find evidence that he had been playing Gospel hymns on the family piano or his old, dusty accordion.

Fred was a long time member of Meadowood Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. His faith in the Savior carried him through many trying times during his long illness with cancer. When people would inquire as to how he was doing, his answer was always, "I don"t have a complaint in this world." Fred knew the plans the Lord had laid up for him, so he never feared the surgeries, treatments, or death.

Celebration of Fred's life will take place at Barnes Friederich Funeral in Midwest City, OK on Friday, September 7th at 4:30 p.m. Private interment will take place at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
