Herman Solomon Sookne

Mr. Herman "Hank" Sookne, age 88, passed away on January 17, 2021.

Hank was born in Queens, NY to Harry Sookne and Sarah (Kopolov) Sookne. Hank married Mary Sue (Fountain) Sookne of Oklahoma City, OK on November 8, 2012.

Hank often enjoyed sailing with his father in his early days. Hank served in the Army toward the end of the Korean War from 1953-1955. Hank's unit was the first to be given surface to surface guided missiles. Hank started his collegiate life at Georgetown University in foreign service, later transferring to New York University graduating with a bachelor's in economics. Hank's professional life involved land development in Bella Vista, AR, Senior Vice President of Operations at Epworth Villa Retirement Community, and Regional Director of Donor Relations at Feed the Children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Sookne and mother, Sarah Sookne.

Hank's life will be forever cherished by his children and step-children. His children include Charles Sookne and wife Cynthia of Howard PA, David Gilman and wife Nancy of Jacobstown, NJ, and Susan Weiner and husband Michael of Pennington, NJ; grandchildren, Garrison Gilman and wife Leslie, Emerson Gilman and wife Brittany, Branson Gilman, Madison Gilman, Sam Weiner, and Rachel Weiner; his step-children, Susan Beth Henry and late husband Kevin, Paul Christian Andrews and wife Terri, and David Nathaniel Andrews and wife Brandi, all of Oklahoma; step-grandchildren, Zachary, Asher, Adelynn, Monica, and Kayla. Herman is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Sookne, who loved him dearly.

Viewing and services for Mr. Hank Sookne are pending at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home, 3925 N. Asbury Ave, Bethany, OK 73008. Cremation will follow with interment in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City, OK.

Hank's favorite charity was Feed the Children where he served as Regional Director of Donor Relations until his retirement in 2017.
