Ronald Dean Sauer age 66, of Newcastle passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017 following an accident while working on his truck.

Born November 7, 1951, in Oklahoma City, and was known as Ronny by his friends and family. He was the younger of two sons born to Paul George Sauer and Ima Nadine (Bailey) Sauer. Ronny grew up in both Newcastle and South OKC. After graduating in 1970, from South East High School in OKC, he joined the U. S. Army and was stationed overseas in Thailand. Ronny proudly served four years during the Vietnam Conflict and after being honorably discharged in 1974, he returned home to Newcastle. In 1975, he married Deborah Johnston and together they raised two children, Becky and Adam. He remained living, working and was an active member of the Newcastle community his entire life. He was a charter member of the Newcastle Volunteer Fire Department starting in 1969, later retiring in 1990. He was a charter member of the Newcastle Lions Club, a member of the VFW Post 3608 in Blanchard and the American Legion Post 0261. Ronny worked for himself all of his life. He started out as the owner and operated the Newcastle Hardware store. He ran the store from the early 1980’s until he sold it in 1992. He then started RDS Industries, a trucking and transport business that he operated out of his home. Ronny loved working with his hands and could fix almost anything. In his early years he worked on small engines and later motorcycles, cars and trucks. He loved gardening, fishing and having 4th of July parties at his home with his friends. He enjoyed reading and collected National Geographic Magazines for the past 35 years. He was a history buff and enjoyed watching all kinds of war and history documentaries on TV. Ronny never met a stranger, his helping personality granted him many friends in the community. He will be greatly missed by his family and his coffee drinking buddies.

Ronny was preceded in death by: Parents, Paul and Nadine Sauer;

He is survived by: Two children, Daughter, Becky Sauer of Mustang, OK, Son, Adam Sauer and wife Kristin of Little Rock, AR. Brother, George Sauer and wife Kay of Newcastle. Three grandsons, Michael Russell, Emerson and Micah Sauer. One niece, Amy Sauer-Orrick of Newcastle, One nephew, Chris Sauer of Texas. Several cousins and a other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Newcastle. Interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in OKC.

Memorials may be made to the Charity of your choice. Arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle.
