Charles “Bub” Loyd Shafer, 75, of Norman, Oklahoma, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at Norman Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at Noble United Methodist Church in Noble, Oklahoma with Reverend James Kim officiating. Interment will follow in the Norman I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ted Thompson, John Hall, John McKnight Jr., David McKnight, Bill Ashley, Doug Worley, Brian Worley and Elvin Worley. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.

Mr. Shafer was born Aug. 5, 1931, the oldest of four children born to Curtis and Ethel Shafer in Sand Creek, Grant County, Oklahoma. 

He grew up and attended school in Jefferson, Oklahoma, graduating from Jefferson High School in 1949. Mr. Shafer was a veteran, having served his country with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division from 1950 to 1956. He married Jeanette Worley on Dec. 7, 1953 in Enid, Oklahoma. They celebrated 52 years together. After his Army service, Mr. Shafer worked for many years as a tool and die maker, retiring from York International in 1993.

Mr. Shafer enjoyed a number of outdoor activities, including camping, fishing, hunting, skiing, boating and going to the lake with his family. He loved to travel and was able to visit all 50 states, Canada, Mexico and Europe. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Shafer was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of the Buckaroo Square Dance Club for several years. He was a member of Noble United Methodist Church.

Mr. Shafer was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Ethel; two brothers, Curtis S. Shafer Jr., and James L. Shafer; son, Ronald Charles Shafer; and grandson, Shawn D. McKnight.

Survivors include his wife Jeanette, of the home; daughter, Catherine Leonard and husband Bill of Ada, OK; son, Stephen Shafer and fiance Kandi of Norman; two grandsons, John C. McKnight and wife Alesha of Ada, OK, and David P. McKnight of Ada, OK; great-granddaughter, Stacy of Ada, OK; two great-grandsons, Kyle of Norman and Jonathan of Ada, OK; sister, Glenda Prochaska and husband Raymon of Pond Creek, OK; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Shafer of Nash, OK; brother-in-law, Elvin Worley and wife Verla of Braman, OK; and many nieces and nephews; and last but not least, with unconditional love, his best friend, Sammy, his schnauzer.

Jeanette Mae Shafer, 80, of Norman, passed away November 17, 2015.  Jeanette was born October 12, 1935 in Blackwell, OK to John Worley and Dorothy Faye (Selby) Worley. She graduated from Braman High school.
 
Jeanette married Charles Shafer Dec 7 1953, they were married 53 years. They side by side lived a military life till coming back to Norman where Jeanette started a 30 year plus career with DQ. To their union was a daughter and two sons.
Jeanette was active in the Noble United Methodist Church and served as the Finance Chair and Treasury for more than 15 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and other committees extending her time and talent to her Christian walk, but her fondest times were spent surrounded by her family.  
 
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Elvin, a son, Ron, and a grandson, Shawn McKnight.
 
She is survived by her son, Stephen Shafer and wife Kandi; of Norman and a daughter, Cathy Leonard; of Ada, Ok. Grandchildren, include John and David McKnight, both of Ada, as well as Kyle and Krimsyn Shafer of Norman. Great grandchildren are Stacy, Rogue, Jonathan, and Austin, all of Ada.
 
Services to celebrate her life will be 2:00p.m., Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Noble United Methodist Church, 200 N. Main St. in Noble.
