J. B. DuFran, 88, passed away June 13, 2015 in Norman, OK. Born April 27, 1927, to John Napoleon DuFran and Jenny Bradshaw DuFran, he was raised in the Norman and Noble area, and made Norman his home. He was proud to be a third generation Cleveland County resident.

A 1948 graduate of Norman High School, J. B. played football and softball and was an NHS Letterman and won State Championship. He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothye Elizabeth McCall in 1948, and had one son, John.

After Dorothye's passing, J. B. married Margaret Crawley in 1999.

In 1974 he retired from the Oklahoma Army National Guard as Chief Warrant Officer. During high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Army, and served, then returned to complete his degree. As a World War II Veteran, he made the Honor Flight with his son in 2012 to Washington, DC, to visit the WWII Memorial.

He was a Charter Member of St. Stephen Methodist Church. In later years, he enjoyed the Senior Group at Trinity Lutheran Church, as well as the NHS monthly gatherings with former classmates.
Fishing, traveling, gardening, woodworking, and bragging about his grandchildren kept J. B. active. He enjoyed his grandchildren's activities, making every band concert and birthday gathering, as well as many of their soccer games.

J. B. was preceded by his parents, one sister, and wives Dorothye and Margaret.

He is survived by his son, John DuFran and wife, Mary, and grandchildren: Summer DuFran McGuire and husband, Kurt; grandson, Zachary Martin DuFran and wife, Christie; and granddaughter, Sabrina Johnette DuFran. Great grandchildren include: Cooper Walter McGuire, Myla Omega DuFran and Bryson John McGuire.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 18, at Havenbrook Funeral Home with interment following at IOOF Cemetery in Norman.

Memorials can be made in memory of J. B. to Meals on Wheels of Norman.
