Babette Behrman, 84, of Norman, Oklahoma passed away on March 16, 2016.

Babette Behrman was born July 17, 1931 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Pincus J. Temerlin and Julie (Kahn) Temerlin. She grew up in Ardmore, Oklahoma on “C” street with her two brothers, Maurice and Liener Temerlin. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Oklahoma in 1963; she received a Post-Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1964 from the University of Chicago where she was a counselor for adolescents. In 1976, she received a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Oklahoma.

For much of her career, Babette was fascinated with psychoanalytic methods. Shortly after policies changed allowing people to become a psychoanalyst without a medical degree, Babette pursued one. At the age of 60, she commuted to Denver (one of few places offering such a degree) each week for five years earning a certification in Psychoanalysis from the Colorado Center for Psychoanalytic Studies in 1996. For the next fifteen years, Babette was an avid practitioner and psychoanalytic conference speaker.

Babette was a member of the Hillel Foundation. She was an active member of the Gourmet Club (an informal group that took turns cooking on behalf of friends). Babette will be remembered for her sparkling eyes, her kind heart, her love of family, her love of helping others, and her commitment to her children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Maurice Temerlin, and her husband Dr. James M. Behrman. Babette is survived by her daughter, Anna Behrman, her son, Paul Behrman, step children Jaudon Behrman and David Behrman, her longtime assistant Jean Shingledecker, caregivers Mercy Hulley and Lina Tang and numerous friends and loved ones.
