Doris Lee Sparlin age 96 of Purcell, passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014 at the Lexington Nursing Home. She was born November 11, 1918 in Lexington, Oklahoma. She was the middle child of three children born to Clarence E. Horttor and Mable Mae (Eschwig) Horttor. Doris grew up in Lexington, OK and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1936. One year later Doris married Ray Arthur Sparlin. After they were married they made their home in Purcell and together raised six children. Doris worked hard as a homemaker, mother and provider for her family. She also worked outside of the home, working at various jobs for many years before going to work full time at Tinker Air Force Base. She worked at Tinker until she retired in the 1980’s. At the age of 12, Doris was saved and started attending the Church of Christ. Doris became a faithful Christian and an active member of the 9th and Pierce Church of Christ in Purcell. She was an avid reader and especially loved reading her bible. In her later years she actively attended the Lexington Senior Citizens Center. She loved quilting, doing crafts and shopping. For the past six years she has been a resident at Westbrook Gardens. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, and a wonderful friend to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by: One grandson, Steven Sparlin; One great grandson, Brandon Snow; Brother, Pete Horttor; Sister, Bobbie Anderson;

She is survived by: 5 daughters, Barbara Lynn and husband Melvin of Norman, Virginia Boydston and husband Bennie of Purcell, Kay Barry of OKC, Susan Pannell and husband Steve of Vian, Peggy Faulkenberry and husband Bill of Purcell; One son, Raymond Sparlin of Arkansas City, KS. 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren; Several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Interment will be at the Lexington Cemetery
