Jerry Sanders, age 88 of Noble, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017, at the Norman Regional Healthplex.

Jerry Raymond Sanders was born June 20, 1929 in Flint, Michigan, the 3rd of 5 children born to Herbert Charles Sanders and Florence Teresa (Becherer) Sanders. He was raised in the Bakersfield area and attended school through high school there. Jerry joined the United States Army, and served his country proudly during the Korean War. Jerry married his best friend and life partner; a young lady from Lexington named Joann Nelson, on January 16, 1953 in Kingman, AZ. Together they raised two sons, Royce and Leonard. Jerry worked as a welder most of his working life. When not working, he enjoyed bowling, and considered himself an amateur treasure hunter. He liked frequenting estate and garage sales and finding a good bargain. Jerry was a proud patriot, a wonderful father and grandfather, and a good friend to many. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: His wife, Joann Sanders; Son, Royce Sanders; Parents, Herbert and Florence Sanders and Brothers, Marcel and Jerome Sanders.

Jerry is survived by: His son, Leonard Sanders and wife Diane of Bakersfield, CA; Sister, Doris Beech of Idaho; Brother, Adrian Sanders and wife Molly of Escondido, CA; 5 grandchildren; great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Interment is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the Lexington Cemetery.
