Jim Rolin, age 74 of Purcell, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019. Jimmy Darrell Rolin was born May 9, 1945 in Purcell, the 5th of 9 children born to Clarence Douglas Rolin and Ila Mae (Cypert) Rolin. He was raised in Purcell and attended Purcell schools, graduating with the Class of 1964. Jim joined the United States Navy. He was a Sailor on the USS Yorktown and served his country proudly during Vietnam. Jim returned back home to Purcell, Oklahoma.

By chance, he noticed a young lady at the swimming pool. He decided to throw her in, only so he could rescue her, and she was less than impressed with his efforts. But Jim pursued this young lady for the next 6 months, and his persistence finally paid off. On January 14, 1972, Jim married Sharon Sue Embry, his one and only love. They made their home East of Lexington where together they raised 4 children, daughters, Connie, Gretchen and Katie and son, Justin. Jim worked as a Game Warden for many years, and served Central Oklahoma, retiring in 2007.

Jim was a man's man, and a true outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed hunting, and for the last 30 years, he made yearly trips to Cebolla, New Mexico, hunting with family and close friends. Jim and Sherry also enjoyed camping and riding mules in the Pecos Wilderness Area in New Mexico. Jim was a Purcell Dragon through and through, and an avid supporter of Dragon Football. He was a good friend and looked forward to coffee with the Broken Hip Club at McDonalds.

Jim cherished Sherry and his family and especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed!
