Martha Lillie Ramsey age 98 of Lexington, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015 at her home in Lexington surrounded by her family.

She was born May 20, 1917 on a farm east of Lexington. She was one of nine children born to Andrew B. Bennett and Maudie Belle (Haney). Martha grew up a farm girl living northeast of Lexington. She attended a small two room country school to the 8th grade, named Science Hill. While growing up, Martha learned how to work hard with her siblings in the cotton and broomcorn fields. She kept that same work ethic throughout her life. Martha married Arthur Lee Ramsey on September 17, 1940 in Lexington. Together they raised six children and lived in the Lexington community most of their lives. Martha worked in the home as a homemaker and outside of the home at the University of Oklahoma. For 25 years she worked in food service for the student athletes. Martha was a faithful Christian. For nearly 60 years she was a member of the Lexington Pentecostal Church of God where she served as the church secretary and treasurer. She also taught Sunday School there for many years. For the past six years she has attended the Lexington Family Worship Center. Martha had many hobbies including, sewing, quilting, cooking, canning and working in her yard. She was still mowing her own yard at age 95. Most of all, Martha loved spending time with her family and especially babysitting grandkids.

She was preceded in death by: Parents, Andrew and Maudie Bennett; Husband, Arthur Ramsey; Two sons, Darrell and Buddy Ramsey; Daughter, Laura Moore; Grandson, Jamie Logan; Seven brothers and sisters,

She is survived by: Three children, Jimmy Ramsey and wife Virginia of Noble, Marketa Ille and husband Jerry of Lexington, Sherry Logan and husband Mike of Elk City; One sister, Naomi Mitchell and husband Junior of Lexington; Nine grandchildren, Angie Drabeck of Hutto, TX, Shelly Beard and husband Michael of Calumet, OK., Delaine Ramsey of Lexington, Cale Ille and wife Laketa of Lexington, Gary Lynn Bonner and wife Kaktie of Noble, Angel Dixon and husband Kenny of Wynnewood, Kelley Ille of Lexington, Connie Pierce and husband Mark of Wynnewood, Amy Bruce of OKC. 20 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild. Also many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Memorial Assembly of God Church in Purcell. Interment will be at the Lexington Cemetery. Arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
