Rumell LeCrone, age 84 of Purcell, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Cleta Rumell Holsonbake was born April 23, 1930 in Corbett, OK, the 4th of 12 children born to L. D. Holsonbake and Jewell Estell (May) Holsonbake. She was raised in the Corbett and Lexington area and attended Lexington Schools. Rumell married a young man named Harry Kennedy, Jr. on December 11, 1948, in Gainesville, TX. While her husband worked for Halliburton Oil Company, they lived in Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle, before finally settling in Moore, OK to raise their three children. Their children include daughters, Theresa and Rebecca, and son Douglas Curtis. Rumell owned and operated the Kut & Kurl Beauty Salon in Moore. After 23 years of marriage, Harry preceded her in death in 1971. A few years later, Rumell met Dave LeCrone, and they were married on April 27, 1973 in Norman. They settled in Purcell in 1975 where Rumell opened the “Woman’s World” Beauty and Gift Shop. Rumell was a creative and gifted artist. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, painting, woodworking and building beautiful playhouse furniture for her grandchildren. She loved craft parties with her family and friends, the outdoors and tending to her garden. She enjoyed fishing and annual family campouts at the Platt National Park in Sulphur. Rumell wrote personal stories about early life along the South Canadian River for the Lexington Sun. She enjoyed traveling with Dave, friends and family extensively throughout the United States. August in Ruidoso, NM was a favorite place. Rumell was a member of the Cleveland County Genealogical Society and a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Lexington. She will be remembered as a loving and thoughtful person, who cared greatly for others. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: Her husbands, Harry Kennedy, Jr. and Dave LeCrone; Her parents, Louis Devore “L.D.” and Jewel Holsonbake; 4 sisters, Norma Jean Darling, JoAnn Baker, Marcille Blair, Jacqueline Holsonbake and 2 brothers, Wyman Lavon and Robert Dwight “Dutch” Holsonbake Stepdaughter Pam LeCrone

Rumell leaves behind: Her son, Douglas Curtis Kennedy and wife LaNora of Mustang; 2 daughters, Theresa Schuldt and husband John of Norman and Rebecca Smith and husband David of Purcell; Stepchildren Molly, Jeff, David and Greg LeCrone; 1 brother, Marlin Dale Holsonbake and wife Betty of OKC; 4 sisters, Fredona Rose of Weatherford, Sharon Dickerson and husband Jim of Norman Linda Oliphant and husband Charles of Norman, Janice Tusen and husband David of Norman. 9 Grandchildren; Wes, Reece and Hattie Kennedy, Alexis Schuldt, Kim Hornbuckle, David III, Zackery, Tyler, Kelley, and Chloe LeCrone, along with four great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 15, 2014, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home.
