Dayle Hughes, age 91 of Lexington, passed away Saturday December 5, 2015. Virginia Dayle Giroux was born August 8, 1924 south east of Lexington. Her parents were Andrew and Thelma (Baggett) Giroux.

Dayle grew up in Lexington and attended Lexington Schools, graduating in 1942. She then attended Nursing School in Muskogee Baptist Hospital. During World War II she worked at Douglas Aircraft and also at the Norman South Navy Base. She married her best friend and true love, a young serviceman named John Hughes and they made their home in Lexington. Dayle began working as an Accountant at the University of Oklahoma and retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service. She loved to read and looked forward to trips to South Texas. She was a longtime member and Past Worth Matron of the Eastern Star. She was a lifetime member of the Good Sam’s RV Club and the American Legion Axillary. Dayle was of the Baptist faith and fondly recalled her time at Falls Creek when she was young. She since sponsored many children to Falls Creek faithfully for many years. She was a bright spirit who loved life! She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Andrew Giroux and Thelma Giroux Bailey and Her brother, Don Giroux

Dayle is survived by Her husband, John of Lexington; Her sisters, Euince Clark of Wynnewood and Dorris Johnson of Whittier, CA; Sister-in-law, Doris Giroux of Lexington; 2 nieces, Shirley Coulter and husband Ron of Lexington and Donna Deskin of Lexington; Numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery.
