Jimmie Duffy age 83 of Norman, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014 at Norman Regional Hospital. She was born June 21, 1930 in Purcell, OK. She was the 5th child of six children born to Ira Edgar Norvell and Mildred Catherine (Perry) Norvell at the original family homestead, an Indian Territory allotment two miles west of Purcell. Jimmie grew up in Purcell and attended Purcell schools through the 11th grade. Before her senior year she married the love of her life, Robert Kairn Duffy. They were married on June 4, 1947 in Oklahoma City. After they married they moved to Stillwater, OK where she finished high school and Bob started attending Oklahoma State University. Jimmie worked as a wife, mother and homemaker raising five children while Bob worked for Chevron. They lived in various towns and states including, OKC; Memphis, TN; Washington DC; Des Moines, Iowa; Ft. Madison, Iowa and Fresno, CA. After Bob retired in 1985 they lived in Fresno, CA for 13 years before moving back to Norman, OK in 1997. Jimmie was a faithful Christian who attended church wherever she was living. She was a self-taught pianist and organist and loved playing at church. After she moved back to Norman, she was a member at Johnson Road Baptist Church in Purcell where she enjoyed playing the church organ. Throughout her life, she enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family. In her later years she enjoyed babysitting grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: Parents: Ira and Choc Norvell, 2 Brothers: Glynn and Perry Norvell, 2 sisters: Dorothy Vela and Louise Wyatt Jones,

She is survived by: Husband: Bob Duffy of the home in Norman, Five children: David Duffy and wife Marion of Lake Forest, CA, Karen Gibson and husband Greg of San Jose, CA, Mike Duffy of The Hague, Netherlands, Steven Duffy and wife Zoya of Las Vegas, NV, Brian Duffy and wife Angie of Norman, One brother: John Norvell and wife Phyllis of Purcell, Three grandchildren: Kimberly, Kristin and Jacob Duffy, Also many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Interment will be at 3:30 PM Thursday, at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, OK.
