James Douglas “Doug” Alexander, age 63 of Lexington, OK passed away Wednesday February 19, 2014 in Norman, OK. Doug was born October 5, 1950 in Los Angeles, CA. He was the older of two children born to James Alexander and Alligene (Blackwood) Alexander. He was raised in Lexington and attended Lexington Schools, graduating with the class of 1968. After high school, he attended and later graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He then moved to San Diego, CA to attend law school later graduating from Western State with a Degree in Law. Doug practiced both Civil and Domestic Law in Sidney, Montana for more than 15 years. He dedicated most of his time to foreign adoptions from Romania, and was very proud of his work placing children in loving homes. To this day, several of the children and their families keep in touch with him, and many of them carry the name “Alexander”. Doug was an avid baseball fan. He collected cards and was somewhat of a historian. He could recall batting averages and team records for nearly any team. He was a strong man of faith and he lived by the motto, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” Doug moved back home to Lexington to be closer to his parents 12 years ago. Doug was a faithful Christian member of the Lexington United Methodist Church and was a great encourager to the church members and Pastor. Throughout his life he was an avid reader. Doug will be remembered as a great friend and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Doug leaves behind: His parents, James and Alligene Alexander of Lexington; His sister, Stacy Alexander of Portland, OR and A host of other family and close friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 24, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Lexington. Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery.
