Ann Gober, age, 86 of Lexington, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020. Ann Lee Self was born July 11, 1934 in Commerce, Georgia, 1 of 7 children born to Julian Mack Self and Sarah Ellie (McClain) Self. She was raised in the hills of Georgia near Carlton. Like many in that time, she left school and started working to help her family.

Some years later, Ann had moved to Texas, and by chance one day, while working at the local diner in Commerce, she met a young man named James Edgar Gober. They were the perfect match and were eventually were married in Commerce. They first made their home in Anadarko, and later Okla. City before settling in the Lexington community. Ann worked a few odd jobs here and there, but her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and eventually great -great grandmother. Together they raised 8 children, and so Ann worked tirelessly, cooking and cleaning and managing her family. She was a strong woman and fiercely independent. Her values were unquestioned and she worked hard to instill these qualities in both her children and grandchildren. Ann loved working in her garden and just being a grandma. She was an excellent cook, and will be forever remembered for her beans, pan bread and taters. She will be dearly missed!
