Ed Haddad, 82, of Norman, Oklahoma, died peacefully, Monday, February 14, 2005, in Norman, Oklahoma from complications of end stage renal disease.

A Requiem Eucharist will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 17, 2005, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Norman with Reverend Dwight Helt officiating.

Family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M, Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at the columbarium at St. John's Episcopal Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.

Mr. Haddad was born August 28,1922, to Lebanese immigrants, Kamel and Ramziah (Massad) Haddad, in Duke, Oklahoma. He was the sixth of eight children, and was an identical twin to his brother, Derwood (deceased). Following high school graduation, Mr. Haddad served in the Army Air Force Reserves in a special pilot training program. Later, he wheat-farmed and crop-dusted his way through college, graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1952, with a degree in geological sciences. While attending college, Mr. Haddad met and married his lovely Michigan bride, Mary Jane Skory (also Lebanese). They had two daughters, Kay Lynn and Synthia Sue, both of whom graduated from O.U. In addition to his career as a petroleum geologist, Mr. Haddad was also a realtor/broker, tax preparer, retail proprietor, and landlord. After moving to Norman in 1966, he and his twin brother opened the Twin's Food Mart. Later, in 1978, he assisted his wife in establishing and operating The International Pantry, a popular local shop selling cookware and gourmet foods. In 1998, they decided to retire, and sold the business to Mr. Haddad's cousin, Ed Adwon. Mr. Haddad served his community in many capacities. He was one of the original Founders and a past President of the Oklahoma Oil Well Log Library, located in Tulsa, OK. He served as President of the Norman Board of Realtors. He volunteered many hours of service at St. John's Episcopal Church, where he was a member for over 30 years. He also belonged to the Norman Chamber of Commerce, the Texas Earth Science Association, and was a 50-year member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) . Known for his generosity and delightful sense of humor, Mr. Haddad was well-loved in the community. He was quick to help those in need, young or old, friend or newcomer. He was highly respected as a fair and honest businessman, and a thoughtful, loyal friend to all who crossed his path.

Mr. Haddad is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary Jane; his two daughters, Synthia Sue Haddad, of Norman, and Kay Lynn Haddad-Liggins and husband, Edward Liggins, of Danville, CA; his granddaughter, Elyse Haddad-Liggins, the "apple of his eye". Survivors also include nephews, Fred Haddad and wife, Leslie, and their children, Brandon, Brooke and Tyler, Larry Haddad and wife, Jan, and daughter, Katie, Mike, Pat, Vincent Siefe and families, John G. Haddad and Jon K. Haddad and their families; niece, Carol Ann Shadid and family; sister-in-law, Phylis Haddad and brother-in-law, Mitch Siefe; and special friends, Ron Henderson and Andrew Glenn. He is also survived by many other beloved relatives and friends.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Memorial Fund, 235 W. Duffy, Norman, Oklahoma 73069.
